About Darren

Born on March 27, 1968, and raised in the Hikes Point area of Louisville, Darren grew up in a hardworking, values-driven family. His father, David W. Brangers, was an attorney, and his mother, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Brangers, devoted herself to raising the family before later working as a bookkeeper and at BB&T Bank. Alongside his siblings, David A. Brangers and Amy M. Brangers, Darren developed a strong foundation rooted in discipline, faith, and service.

Growing Up in Louisville

Darren was raised in the Hikes Point area of Louisville. His family had a strong work ethic and clear values. His father, David W. Brangers, was an attorney. His mother, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Brangers, focused on raising the family before later working as a bookkeeper and at BB&T Bank. That mix mattered. Darren saw both sides early. The legal side. The numbers side. The discipline side.

the CPA Path

In 1993, he became a Certified Public Accountant. That was the start of a long professional track built around technical depth and responsibility. He began his career in public accounting at McCauley Nicolas CPAs, preparing federal and multi-state tax returns and working on financial audits. It was the kind of environment that teaches you how to think in detail and how to stay accountable. “You don’t learn tax by guessing,” Darren says. “You learn it by doing the hard work and checking everything twice.”

The Personal Side

Outside of work, Darren is deeply committed to faith, family, and community. He volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. He serves at Holy Spirit Church as an usher and is a former finance committee member. He has coached youth soccer, basketball, and tee ball. He is also a dedicated blood donor and reached the 10-gallon milestone this year. Darren is a husband, father, and proud grandfather. He says his family is his greatest blessing. “The work matters,” Darren says. “But the people matter more.”
